MedAppTech and iSalus Solutions Announce Merger

Combined company will drive healthcare interoperability innovation addressing the needs of patients, provider, and payers

Burlington, MA and Salt Lake City, UT – June 30, 2017 – MedAppTech, Inc. ("MedAppTech") and iSalus Solutions, LLC ("iSalus"), leading providers of healthcare interoperability technology and solutions, today announced the completion of the merger of the two companies creating a healthcare interoperability leader to operate under the new name, Interopion, Inc (Interopion). The companies will combine business operations over the coming year.

The combined company will be privately held and operated under the Interopion brand. Rick Freeman, iSalus’s founder and CEO, has been named the CEO of Interopion and Nikolai Schwertner, MedAppTech’s founder and CTO, has been named the CTO.  Freeman and Schwertner will work together with the management and technical teams to efficiently transition to a single company. The headquarters for Interopion will be in Burlington, MA with a significant office presence in Salt Lake City, UT and Washington, DC.

"We celebrate an important milestone today as we formally merge with our highly-regarded peer, MedAppTech," said Rick Freeman, founder and CEO of iSalus. "Combined under the Interopion umbrella, we will draw on our years of experience to continue to push the boundaries of healthcare interoperability and remain focused on delivering outstanding technology, capabilities, and service across industry stakeholders."

"MedAppTech is excited to join forces with iSalus during this monumental time in healthcare innovation," said Nikolai Schwertner, co-founder and CTO of MedAppTech. "In the US and globally we have an important and fleeting opportunity to achieve meaningful health care interoperability through secure open API technologies and in doing so to better harness the power of healthcare data to improve patient outcomes and achieve long-term financial sustainability. With the iSalus’s and our combined experience as early interoperability leaders, we are confident in our ability to remain the market leader in this segment and in doing so to positively transform health care delivery."

A core principle of both companies has been to ensure that end-users remain central in the design and development process.  “This secret sauce won’t change,” says Dr. Ben Harvey, CMO of Interopion and former CMO of MedAppTech. “We will continue to leverage our extensive network of clinical and operational subject matter experts, including physicians, nurses, technologists, and administrators, to create powerful and practical tools that empower healthcare providers to deliver better, safer, and more cost-effective care.”

MedAppTech and iSalus were the first US companies dedicated to health care open API technologies and have delivered some of the most innovative and successful open API-driven solutions in healthcare to date. These solutions cover the full spectrum of the health care delivery, management, and payment, with customers including major health systems, big pharma, and third party payers.

Freeman continued, "Interopion is a rapidly growing company pursuing an enormous opportunity ahead of it. Keeping security, sustainability, and interoperability as core principles, the Interopion team will continue to drive healthcare innovation while providing customers with world-class levels of service for which both MedAppTech and iSalus have become known.”
